Type matchup FAQ
What is the super effective multiplier in Pokémon GO?
A super effective attack deals 1.6× damage. If the defender is doubly weak — both of its types are weak to the attack — the multipliers stack to 1.6 × 1.6 = 2.56×.
How much does a not very effective move do?
A not very effective attack deals 0.625× damage (that is 1 ÷ 1.6). Two resistances stack to about 0.39×, and a resistance plus an immunity-style matchup drops it further.
Is there true immunity in Pokémon GO?
No. Unlike the main series, Pokémon GO has no zero-damage immunity. Matchups that would be immune elsewhere — like Normal vs Ghost or Ground vs Flying — instead deal heavily reduced 0.390625× damage.
What is STAB and how big is it?
Same-type attack bonus applies when a Pokémon uses a move that matches one of its own types. In Pokémon GO that bonus is 1.2×, and it multiplies on top of the type effectiveness shown above.
